Jessie’s Story
In 2005, Jessica Lunsford, at nine years old, was abducted from her home in Homosassa, Florida. She was murdered by a convicted sex offender. Jessie’s death drew nationwide attention and sympathy and changed our community forever.
Named in her memory, this facility honors Jessie by protecting all of the children of Citrus County from violence, abuse and neglect. When a child receives services at Jessie’s Place it is with the purpose of alleviating the painful events in his or her life and beginning their journey to recovery that allows them to feel like a child again.
